Astana is ahead of Moscow in the comfort rating of cities, Tengrinews reports citing Baiterek media center.
“Astana has got the diploma of the 6th International Competition of Urban Practices Best City of CIS and EurAsEC in the nomination for the Best City to Live In 2013,” the message says.
According to the media center, 35 cities of Russia, Kazakhstan and Ukraine participated in the 6th International Competition of CIS Cities. Astana prevailed over cities like Kishinev, Kiev, Moscow and others.
According to the press-release, the contest commission praised the development of the Kazakhstan capital for its environment, comfort for living and flowers adorning municipal buildings. The Green Belt developed around Astana, innovative approach to development of the city’s transport system, implementation of projects like bus rapid transit (BRT) and smart transport system were contributed to the city’s standing in the rating.
The contest has held by the International Assembly of CIS Countries’ Capitals and Big Cities (MAG) in partnership with CIS Executive Committee, EurAsEC Integration Committee and Russia’s Board for Local Administration since 2008.
