Traditionally, ceremonial receptions in honor of a national holiday are held once a year. In New York City there are Consulates and Permanent Missions to the United Nations, which have the status of embassies. Given this nature of New York, the Independence Day of Kazakhstan was celebrated twice.
Raushan Yesbulatova, the General Consul of Kazakhstan in New York, held a reception a few days ago in honor of the Solemn Independence Day. The highlight of the evening was the concert of Kazakh music. Kazakhstani students, who are studying in the United States, took Dombra in their hands. It turned out to be that there were real virtuoso of this national instrument even among the diplomats.
A reception in honor of Independence Day of Kazakhstan took place yesterday in the Country’s Mission to the United Nations. The Host of the receptions was the new head of the Diplomatic Mission, Ambassador Kairat Abdrakhmanov. He replaced Hon. Byrganym Aitimova, who became a Senator back in Kazakhstan.
